Oraderm BlastX Antimicrobial Biofilm Wound Gel employs XBIO® technology with a combination of ingredients acting as a chelating agent, surfactant, buffer and moisture protectant. This leads to the deconstruction of bacterial biofilms, destroys bacteria within the gel and defends from bacterial reinfection whilst maintaining a moist wound healing environment.
Bacteria and Bacterial Biofilms are present in 85% of wounds, causing delayed healing. Biofilms cannot be seen with the naked eye and function as a defensive system, protecting bacteria within a matrix, covered by a ‘slime’ layer, as a physical defence against topical treatments.
- BlastX breaks down biofilm and promotes fast wound healing - The patented non-toxic XBIO® technology deconstructs the structure of the biofilm by removing the metal ions that hold the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) together. This exposes the bacteria within the biofilm, making them more vulnerable to the active ingredients.
- Defends against Reinfection - The pH of the hydrogel in the wound bed defends against the reattachment of the bacteria and biofilm to the skin, thus preventing reinfection.
- BlastX promotes moist wound healing - A moist wound environment prevents dehydration, enhances angiogenesis and collagen synthesis, increasing breakdown of dead tissue and fibrin. This promotes healing and reduces scarring.
Directions: Apply directly to the wound then cover with an appropriate dressing. Cover the entire wound surface with gel at a minimum thickness of 3mm. After opening, BlastX may be used until the labelled expiration date.
